Thank you for reading and Happy Holidays! I have seen this and we were having a discussion about just that. One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes chain are actually franchises. So even though they are backed by a large corporation, odds are there is still someone local owning it or running it. I think a local franchise is still better than spending all your money at Walmart! If you are ever curious, just ask the manager before you shop, and let them know why you are asking. I think the more we raise awareness about supporting local businesses, we can make an impact for the better! The cupcakes sound yummy, regardless! Best-UDD

I love what you say about re-prioritizing after the Newtown CT tragedy.

With regard to local businesses, I definitely support more local shopping. But one problem I've encountered is that it's not always easy to tell whether a business is truly locally owned. Example: on Small Business Saturday my husband and I went to a cupcake bakery that we thought was local, but we found out afterward that it was part of a chain! Of course, we still made the ultimate sacrifice and ate the cupcakes. 🙂 But I'm wondering if you've encountered this kind of thing too?
