I agree that connecting with our children and their books is important. Finding good books is challenging and so important to keep kids reading. I like that your daughter is choosing books she plows through. Sometimes it's hard to find the books each of my three kids really love to read, but the time we take to find them pays off.
I try to read part of the books each of my children read. I listen to them read aloud or we take turns reading. I usually don't get around to reading every book they read, but I make it a priority that they all have books they love!
I choose books every now and then to read aloud to everyone too. Once I find a book we try to sit together and read a little every day. I read the book to them, but we stop to discuss the book like you get to do with your daughter as you read the same book.
If you stop by my blog, look for the link to my BlogFrog community in the sidebar. I'd love for you to be part of it. WeTeach is a great place to connect too. WeTeach We're Bloggers is an active group.
