TGIF!
SO guess what I woke up to this morning? Snow. Yep. Snow.
Looks like winter is going to come early this year in the Midwest, and all I can say about it is to get your baking game on. Chilly weather just makes me want ti bake. It warms the house and makes everything smell good.
So today we bake an easy buttermilk pie recipe with luscious lemon zest and fresh ground nutmeg using a storebought pie dough. I first made this pie when a friend of mine answered a request for recipes to use up buttermilk. (Do you also get tired of the giant bottles of buttermilk you have to buy hen you only need a cup for a recipe? Yeahhhh.) This was the family recipe she learned while living in Texas. This is such a great way to use up extra buttermilk and makes a custard-like pie, perfect for chilly weather.
The recipe for this How-To is at https://urbandomesticdiva.com/recipe-buttermilk-bake-off-4-buttermilk-pie-gluten-free-option/.
The original recipe includes a recipe for an easy crust you make right in the pie pan. This video takes you through using store-bought pie dough instead. Either works. The pie is seriously addictive. Fair warning.
