It’s pie season, and that means hosting big dinners where you need to show off your cooking diva-ness, and one way to do that is to create a show-stopping pie. Through years of trial and error, I figured out that playing with pie dough was a lot like crafting with fabric and felt. When I taught myself how to make felt rosettes for wreaths, it dawned on me that I could use that same technique with pie dough-and it worked! Each year I got better, and my pie tops became more ornate. A lot of my followers and friends wanted to know how to do it.
It’s really not that hard. I show you how below. Just make sure your dough is slightly chilled but workable, and it has rested in the fridge for about 30 minutes before working. If it is store-bought, be sure to have a little bit of water nearby, as store-bought pie dough tends to be drier and doesn’t stick together as well.
Give it a try, DIVAS! You got this.
EVEN guy DIVAS. Pie making is gender-neutral.
Making good food is gender-neutral!
Show off your mad pie top skills this Thanksgiving!
